Purpose of the Catalogue
This catalogue provides editorial context for a selection of public-domain literary works available through the XOIZE Public Domain Literature Library. The goal is to help readers orient themselves within a growing collection by offering concise, focused notes on narrative structure, style, and themes. Scope and Selection
The library currently contains 95 works, all in the English language, drawn from Project Gutenberg. Selection prioritises novels and stories that are representative of their period or author, with an emphasis on works that have received less modern editorial attention. The editor, Ernest Melville, selects titles based on literary interest, historical significance, and their potential to reward closer reading. No work is included for commercial or promotional reasons.
Source Attribution
Every digital text is sourced from Project Gutenberg, a volunteer-led project that digitises public-domain works. The catalogue notes are original to this library and are written by the editor.
